Judge Judy has never been known for sugarcoating—and one behind-the-scenes story proves she doesn’t hold back off-camera either.

A longtime TV producer is now sharing a jaw-dropping moment with the legendary judge that’s turning heads all over again.

Fran Weinstein, a former “Entertainment Tonight” producer, says she spent years interviewing Judge Judy and got to know her well enough to ask a very personal favor—help finding a man.

But instead of playing matchmaker, Judge Judy had a completely different idea.

According to Weinstein, the moment happened while the two were walking through the judge’s Connecticut property at the height of her fame.

“I asked if she knew anyone she could set me up with,” Weinstein recalled.

Judy’s response?

“You don’t need a man. I’ll show you what you need.”

Weinstein admits she had no idea what was coming next—and was a little nervous about it.

As they headed back inside, Judge Judy reportedly grabbed a small, safe-like box, opened it up… and pulled out a handgun.

Yes, really.

Weinstein says the judge showed her a .32 caliber pistol and explained that she kept it nearby for protection—especially when her husband wasn’t home.

“She told me she slept like a baby with it under her pillow,” Weinstein recalled.

The unexpected advice left a lasting impression—and it’s now one of the standout stories in Weinstein’s upcoming memoir, which dives into her years covering Hollywood’s biggest stars.

When asked about the story, Judge Judy herself didn’t exactly deny it.

She said she didn’t remember the moment—but added that if it did happen, she’d happily take credit for it, calling it “brilliant.”

Weinstein’s book also includes plenty of other wild celebrity encounters, from awkward interviews to behind-the-scenes drama.

After decades in the entertainment world, she’s now retired—and trading red carpets for a much quieter life.

But thanks to stories like this, it’s clear she walked away with some unforgettable moments.
