Fans were left stunned — and confused — after a major media mistake briefly made it look like beloved actor Michael J. Fox had died.
The chaos started when CNN accidentally posted a segment titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox,” sending shockwaves across social media before the clip was quickly taken down.
But Fox himself wasted no time clearing things up — with humor.
Taking to Threads, the Back to the Future star joked about the bizarre moment of seeing his own “death” reported on TV.
“How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death?” he wrote, before rattling off a series of tongue-in-cheek reactions, including switching channels, testing if he could still feel pain, or calling his wife for reassurance.
“I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok,” he added, signing off the post with “Love, Mike.”
CNN later admitted the mistake, saying the segment “was published in error” and issuing an apology to Fox and his family.
Despite the scare, Fox appears to be doing well. The actor has been open for decades about his battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he was diagnosed with in 1998.
Over the years, he’s become a powerful voice for resilience, often speaking about gratitude and acceptance in the face of health challenges.
“Optimism is sustainable when you keep coming back to gratitude,” he previously shared, explaining how his mindset has helped him navigate life with the condition.
Just days before the mix-up, Fox was out in public, attending an event celebrating the latest season of Shrinking, where he recently made a guest appearance.
