Arnold Schwarzenegger is among the 76-year-olds you’ll come across at Gold’s Gym. The seven-time Mr. Olympia has been a regular at the Mecca of Bodybuilding for the past five decades.

Even at his age, the bodybuilding legend regularly rides his bike to the gym and works out for at least 45 minutes on various exercise machines. Despite being well beyond his prime, Arnie’s workout routine has remained intact.

While the former Mr. Universe uses lighter weights and fewer sets, the exercises and training philosophy have not changed. However, earlier, the 76-year-old fitness icon resorted to a bizarre method to boost his workout.

While Schwarzenegger has often said a training partner can help you train better, his 4’5″ training partner punched the ‘Governator’ during his set.

Training in the gym is an intense affair. While ego-lifting might be problematic, going for a personal record takes confidence. We often see other lifters motivating and hyping up someone about to attempt a massive lift.

Slapping the person, sometimes more than once, is a common way of hyping them up for the lift. However, the Austrian Oak took it a step further.

Douglas Farrell trained with the five-time Mr. Universe winner at Gold Gym. Farrell is an actor and stuntman, and while training with the Terminator actor, he punched Arnie repeatedly in the face.

The 4’5″ actor punched Schwarzenegger, the bodybuilding legend, while he performed tricep pushdowns. However, none of them were hard punches.

The 76-year-old wrote about the intention behind his bizarre antics in the caption. “We take our training seriously, but we also believe in laughing and having a good time,” Arnie wrote. Farrell was also committed to the antics as he fell to the ground, acting like he got tired before Schwarzenegger. While Farrell is a good friend, he also reminds Arnie of someone.

The Predator actor said he works out with Farrell. “When I miss Franco, I need another short person.” Despite joking with Farrell, Arnie also admired his friend. He claimed that just like Franco Columbu, Farrell is also a “powerhouse.”
