Former NBA champion Chris Bosh is opening up about a terrifying health scare that he says changed him overnight.

The 11-time All-Star revealed on Instagram that he suddenly collapsed while getting ready for a date night with his wife, Adrienne — and woke up covered in his own blood.

“Some things change you overnight,” Bosh captioned the video.

“So I woke up covered in my own blood. It was crazy. It was fast. It was instant,” the 41-year-old said. “There was no warning. I didn’t have any time to prepare for it. I was getting ready to go on a date with my wife and the next thing you know, I was on the ground.”

Bosh said he doesn’t remember what happened.

“It was just darkness,” he explained. “I went to the darkness, I came back. I have no recollection. I have no memory other than coming back here. So, don’t wait.”

He pointed to his face in the video, acknowledging he is still recovering from the incident and that it may be visible.

According to Bosh, his wife frantically called 911 as he slowly regained consciousness in what he described as a pool of blood. He said when he tried to move, his body wouldn’t respond the way it normally would.

The former Miami Heat star also shared more details in a blog post on his Substack titled Return From the Darkness.

He wrote that he was walking from his closet to the bathroom when his body “just turned” on him. A numbing sensation shot down his left leg before he suddenly blacked out.

“I didn’t see my life flash before my eyes. There wasn’t fear,” he wrote. “Everything happened so fast.”

The ordeal left him shaken — not just physically, but emotionally.

Before the incident, Bosh admitted he believed he was in control of his life, focused on shaping his post-basketball career and chasing what he described as momentum and validation. But he now realizes he may have been disconnected from himself and the people closest to him.

“Surviving didn’t magically fix anything,” he wrote. “I thought I was owed more from life after having already survived a health situation that ended my prior career. I was wrong.”

Bosh’s NBA career was cut short in 2016 due to blood clot issues, making this latest scare even more alarming for fans.

Fellow athletes and celebrities flooded his comments with support. Kevin Durant wrote that he was praying for him. Gabrielle Union and Jamie Foxx also sent messages of encouragement.

Now, Bosh says his outlook on life is simpler and more honest. Instead of chasing external validation, he plans to focus on the passions and relationships already present in his life.

“Why wait?” he asked his followers. “Pay attention to yourself and those around you. The ordinary parts of life don’t feel meaningful until they’re taken away.”

The frightening experience has motivated him to write again and share his journey, hoping others can learn from it.
