A woman named Amanda Bratton is going viral after sharing the exact moment her engagement was accidentally spoiled during a 2017 cruise — and the video has people cracking up years later.

In the now-viral TikTok, which has racked up over 2 million views, Bratton is seen sitting at dinner on a Carnival Breeze cruise with family and friends when things suddenly take an unexpected turn.

Out of nowhere, a waiter approaches the table with a dessert topped with a candle and announces, “We’re going to sing ‘Happy engagement.’”

There’s just one problem — she wasn’t engaged.

The confusion is instant.

Bratton looks around laughing, clearly caught off guard, while kids at the table whisper, “What?” as staff begin singing “Happy engagement to you” like the big moment has already happened.

“I’m not engaged,” she mouths, stunned.

That’s when her now-husband, Gary Bratton III, quickly pivots.

Realizing the surprise has been blown, he pulls out a ring box and proposes right there on the spot as the table erupts in cheers.

According to Bratton, her husband had secretly bought the ring from a jeweler onboard and planned the proposal — including the cake and celebration — but the timing went completely off track.

“I think the wait staff was just trying to make it special,” she explained. “But he has no idea why they decided to sing and bring the cake before he proposed.”

Despite the mix-up, the moment turned into something unforgettable.

What could have been a ruined proposal has now become one of their favorite stories.

“It’s something we’ve laughed about for years,” Bratton shared, adding that the unexpected “pre-proposal” moment ended up making the memory even more meaningful.

Online, people had plenty to say.

Some joked the cruise line owes the couple a do-over, while others pointed out how visibly thrown off her husband looked in the moment.

Still, many praised how he handled the situation.

“My husband isn’t one to do things publicly,” Bratton explained. “So for him to plan this out and have it go wrong was unfortunate. But he handled it perfectly — he knew if he reacted badly, it would have stressed me out.”
