Alea O’Shea is facing the fight of her life — and now fans are rallying behind her in a big way.

The former Home and Away actress, just 25 years old, is continuing treatment for brain cancer after revealing her heartbreaking diagnosis late last year. Now, as the battle grows more intense, a fundraiser has been launched to help ease the crushing financial burden on her and her family.

O’Shea first shared the devastating news with fans in November 2025, choosing to be open about what she was going through as she tried to hold onto as much normalcy as possible. Since then, supporters have flooded her with messages and offers to help. After months of encouragement from people who wanted to do something, her friends officially launched a GoFundMe on March 26.

The fundraiser reveals just how difficult the journey has become.

According to the page, O’Shea recently underwent another surgery as part of her ongoing treatment. While her courage has not wavered, those closest to her say the road has been incredibly hard on both the actress and her family.

The fundraiser explains that many critical cancer treatments, therapies, and procedures are not covered by private health insurance, leaving the family to shoulder overwhelming out-of-pocket costs as they try to get her the care she needs.

Her loved ones say they have been doing everything possible to support O’Shea, who was known to many fans for playing Darcy Callahan on Home and Away between 2011 and 2014, and again from 2016 to 2017.

As of Monday, March 30, the fundraiser had already brought in more than $55,000 toward its roughly $60,000 goal — a sign of just how many people have been moved by her story.

And in a twist that makes her fight even more emotional, O’Shea has not only been battling cancer herself. She has also been spending her energy trying to help other women facing the disease by raising money to buy high-quality wigs so they can feel more like themselves during treatment.

That act of generosity, even while dealing with her own medical crisis, has touched many people following her journey.

Back in a TikTok video posted on November 28, O’Shea explained how the frightening diagnosis first unfolded. She revealed that she had a biopsy on her birthday and said she decided to speak publicly because she wanted to live as normally as possible while fighting the disease.

She said the first warning signs were subtle. About six weeks earlier, she noticed that her smile looked uneven and that speaking felt harder than usual. She also had a few migraines, though at first they did not seem especially alarming.

Then, while she was in Los Angeles, things got worse.

O’Shea said she lost feeling in two fingers, and the numbness then spread into her wrist and toe. At first, she thought it might be something minor, like a pinched nerve. But after her physiotherapist urged her to get a brain scan, doctors discovered the real cause.

Now, she is using her story to urge others to trust themselves, get checked, and push for answers if something feels off.

Even in the middle of this terrifying chapter, O’Shea has tried to keep her humor. She told followers that while the location of the tumor has affected movement, it would not affect her personality, joking that she would still be as hilarious as ever.

She also revealed the heartbreaking reality of what treatment could bring in the months ahead, including the possibility of losing her hair and becoming paralyzed on the left side of her body.

Still, she has vowed to keep sharing updates whenever she can.
