Scottish actor Iain Robertson is behind bars after being found guilty of rape and domestic abuse in a case involving three women over a span of more than 15 years.

Robertson, 45, who is known for roles in Band of Brothers and River City, was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow on five charges connected to offenses that took place between 2004 and 2019.

The most serious charge involved a woman Robertson met while working on the Scottish soap River City. During the trial, jurors heard a pre-recorded statement from the woman, who described a troubling relationship with the actor and said he refused to accept her boundaries.

“Iain was convinced I was in denial about having feelings for him and in denial about what I wanted,” she told the court.

The woman said Robertson raped her at his apartment one night in either 2018 or 2019. She also accused him of carrying out other unwanted sexual acts.

Prosecutors argued that Robertson had a pattern of obsessive and abusive behavior toward women. The court heard claims that he became fixated, controlling and frightening in his relationships.

Another woman, a fellow actor, told jurors she received “obsessive” phone calls from Robertson. She also described one frightening moment when he allegedly “lunged” at her.

“I thought he was going to hit me,” she said.

Robertson, who was married to assistant director Judith Milne from 2006 to 2009, denied the allegations against him. But after hearing the evidence, the jury found him guilty of five counts involving three women.

The verdict marks a dramatic fall for the actor, who built a career in British television and film and appeared in the acclaimed World War II miniseries Band of Brothers.

Following the guilty verdicts, Robertson was remanded in custody.

He is now awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for July 23.
