Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau has filed a lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company, alleging she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by a Disney employee while filming a movie when she was just 14 years old.
Bolleau, 39, filed the civil negligence lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, Aug. 21.
The actress, who was known professionally as Raquel Lee, alleges in the complaint that an unnamed middle-aged male Disney employee assaulted her multiple times while she was working on the 2001 Disney Channel original movie The Poof Point.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged abuse took place while the cast and crew were staying in Salt Lake City, as well as during a flight back to California.
Bolleau claims the employee gave her alcohol before allegedly assaulting her.
The former Amanda Show actress is also accusing Disney of failing to protect her despite what she says were obvious warning signs that something was wrong.
According to the complaint, Disney personnel allegedly encouraged Bolleau to “bond” and spend time with the unnamed employee.
She also claims the production separated her from her guardian and failed to provide proper supervision while she was still a minor.
Bolleau alleges the employee later taunted her while they were on set, whispering comments such as “last night was so good” in front of other adults.
According to the lawsuit, no one intervened.
The complaint also claims adults working on the production noticed a dramatic change in Bolleau once the alleged abuse began.
She allegedly appeared sick, intoxicated and struggled with her performance, which the lawsuit says was a major change from the focused and hardworking young actress who had arrived at the production.
Bolleau claims Disney still did not investigate.
Instead, she alleges executives blamed her for the decline in her performance, described her as “out of control” and canceled another role that had been planned for her.
The lawsuit accuses Disney of negligence and seeks damages for alleged emotional distress and financial losses.
Bolleau is also asking for punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and other costs.
The lawsuit does not list a specific dollar amount being sought.
Her attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, said in a statement that the entertainment industry must be held accountable when children are allegedly harmed while working.
“Over the last decade, countless child actors have come forward to bravely share their experiences of abuse by adults in entertainment,” they said.
The attorneys added that conduct of this nature is “inexcusable” and said anyone involved, either directly or indirectly, should be held responsible.
Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bolleau continued working with Disney after The Poof Point.
She went on to voice a recurring character in the Disney Channel animated series The Proud Family, which aired from 2001 through 2005.
Years later, she returned for the Disney+ revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which ran from 2022 through 2025.
