San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested in Ohio over the weekend after allegedly arranging to pay for sex, according to court records and multiple reports.
York, 46, was taken into custody Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, and booked into the Columbiana County Jail. He initially faced a charge of engaging in prostitution.
By Monday, prosecutors had amended that charge to disorderly conduct, and York pleaded no contest to that misdemeanor as well as a separate charge of possessing criminal tools.
Court records reviewed by The Guardian and other outlets say York allegedly arranged through an online ad to pay $140 for sexual activity with a woman. The arrest was reportedly carried out by the East Palestine Police Department with assistance from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
York posted a $5,000 bond following his arrest.
A judge sentenced him to one day in jail for each misdemeanor count, with the sentences to be served at the same time. York was credited for the day he had already spent in custody, meaning he did not face additional jail time.
He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines — $150 for the disorderly conduct conviction and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools.
The arrest reportedly happened at a mobile home community in East Palestine. York is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, and still has ties to the area.
York is married to Danielle Belluomini, and the couple has two sons, Jaxon and Brixton.
He has been one of the most prominent figures in the 49ers organization for years, taking over as CEO in 2008 before eventually becoming the franchise’s principal owner.
Under York’s leadership, San Francisco has made multiple Super Bowl appearances, though the team has not won the championship during his tenure.
York also has investments in European soccer through 49ers Enterprises, including stakes in Leeds United and Rangers.
The timing of the arrest adds another layer of embarrassment for the franchise, with the NFL regular season just weeks away.
As of Monday, the 49ers had not publicly commented on York’s arrest.
