Amber Eggers, best known for appearing on the reality series Love After Lockup, has died at the age of 41.
Eggers died Thursday night at a hospital in Atlanta after suffering acute liver failure, her mother, Monica Eggers, told TMZ.
According to her mother, the reality star had been admitted to the hospital several days before her death.
Eggers became a familiar face to viewers when she appeared on season two of We TV’s Love After Lockup in 2019. She joined the show after serving four years in prison for drug trafficking.
Her storyline followed her life after incarceration and included a brief engagement, though the planned wedding was ultimately called off after her release.
Eggers later returned to television for Life After Lockup, the popular spin-off that followed former inmates and their partners as they adjusted to life outside prison.
Following news of her death, We TV released a heartfelt statement remembering Eggers as an unforgettable part of the franchise.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amber Eggers, an original and unforgettable member of the Love After Lockup family,” the network said.
The statement continued, “She was a bright light, who shared her life story with courage and authenticity, and we are honored to have been a part of her journey over several years. Our hearts are with her family and friends who held her close.”
Eggers’ death comes as a shock to longtime fans who followed her journey both during and after her time on the show.
She was 41.
