Boxer Fernando Vargas Jr. was arrested Thursday night after allegedly being involved in a three-car crash inside the Universal Studios Hollywood parking structure.
The California Highway Patrol said officers responded to the wreck and made contact with Vargas, 29, at the scene.
Authorities said officers noticed signs that he may have been impaired by alcohol.
Police then conducted a DUI investigation and arrested Vargas on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The CHP said the case will be presented to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for review.
Few other details about the crash were immediately released, including whether anyone was injured.
Vargas is the son of former two-time light middleweight world champion Fernando Vargas.
The younger Vargas has built a 17-1 professional boxing record, with 15 of those victories coming by knockout.
He appeared on the high-profile Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford card in Las Vegas in September 2025, where he suffered a loss to Callum Walsh.
Vargas later signed with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing in April and won his debut with the organization in July.
His arrest now comes just months after that victory and adds an unexpected off-the-ring setback to his career.
The investigation remains ongoing.
