Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly pulled their two children out of a British prep school after just two days amid new security concerns.
Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, had recently started attending the unnamed school following the Sussex family’s return to the United Kingdom after six years in Montecito, California.
Giving their children a British education was reportedly one of the major reasons Harry and Meghan wanted to spend more time in the U.K., but those plans have now been put on hold.
A spokesperson for Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, said the decision came after discussions with the family’s security team.
“The decision for the children to move schools was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesperson said.
The couple also made clear that the move had nothing to do with the school itself.
“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family,” the statement continued. “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
The school Archie and Lilibet attended has never been publicly identified.
The sudden move comes just one day after Meghan shared photos and videos showing the family settling into life in England.
Some critics quickly accused the Duchess of Sussex of revealing too much about the family’s location.
The footage showed Harry and Meghan walking along a wooded path, while another clip featured Archie running beside Lilibet as she rode a bicycle down a private road.
A herd of deer could be seen running across a field nearby.
Another image showed Harry with the children in a small boat on a private fishing pond.
A distinctive stone bridge with a rounded arch and decorative pillars could be seen in the background, leading to speculation about where the family may be staying.
Harry and Meghan have faced ongoing security concerns since stepping down as senior working royals in 2020.
After leaving royal duties, the couple lost taxpayer-funded police protection and have reportedly spent millions of dollars each year on private security while living in California.
Harry has repeatedly pushed for a new assessment of his family’s security arrangements in Britain.
Following the Sussexes’ return to the U.K., the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, known as RAVEC, has reportedly ordered new security reviews involving both Harry and Meghan.
For now, Archie and Lilibet’s British school experience appears to be on hold while the family reassesses its security arrangements.
