Carrot Top has been hospitalized in Las Vegas after what multiple reports described as a suicide attempt, prompting the cancellation of his weekend shows at the Luxor.
The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was taken to a local hospital Friday, Sept. 18. TMZ first reported the circumstances, citing sources familiar with the situation.
Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed that he is receiving treatment but did not provide additional details about what happened.
“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” Schlicher told TMZ, adding that his family and those closest to him were grateful for the concern and were asking for privacy.
His Friday night performance at the Luxor was canceled following the hospitalization, and TMZ later reported that his Saturday show had also been called off while he remained hospitalized.
Police were also photographed outside Thompson’s Las Vegas home Friday afternoon, although authorities have not publicly released additional details about their response.
Thompson has been one of the best-known comedy acts on the Las Vegas Strip for decades.
He began headlining at the Luxor in 2005, and MGM Resorts has described him as the longest-running headlining comedian in Las Vegas. His contract with the resort was previously extended through 2030.
The hospitalization comes while Thompson is also involved in a separate legal dispute in Florida, but there is no verified public evidence linking that litigation to Friday’s incident.
Singer Brian Evans filed a federal lawsuit against Thompson in July 2026 seeking to challenge a 2024 settlement agreement between the two men. Federal court records show the case was voluntarily dismissed without prejudice on Aug. 6 after a judge denied Evans’ request for emergency injunctive relief.
Evans subsequently filed a case against Thompson in Broward County Circuit Court, according to Florida court-filing records.
More recently, another man, Zachary Defazio, filed a declaration containing additional allegations against Thompson as part of the ongoing civil dispute. Those allegations remain unproven, and Thompson has not been criminally charged in connection with them.
Because of the timing, some reports have placed the legal fight alongside news of Thompson’s hospitalization. However, no statement from Thompson’s representative, police or medical officials has said the two are connected.
For now, the clearest update comes from his representative: Thompson remains under medical care in Las Vegas and his family is asking for privacy while he recovers.
