‘Love Island Australia’ star Trent Woolman is recovering in a Melbourne hospital after a frightening accident left him with severe burns to his arms, mouth and airways, followed by the discovery of bleeding in his brain.

The 28-year-old reality television personality has spent approximately two weeks hospitalized after falling into a bonfire while working alone at his sister’s rural property in Inverleigh, Victoria, Australia.

Speaking to the Daily Mail from his hospital bed, Woolman described the ordeal as the worst experience of his life.

The former dating show contestant said he was cleaning up a field at his sister’s property when he accidentally fell into the fire and became trapped in the flames.

Woolman, who emphasized that he was completely sober at the time, struggled to escape before finally freeing himself and crawling back toward the house to get help.

His sister immediately rushed to his aid and called emergency services.

“My sister was amazing; she was so brave,” Woolman said, praising her quick thinking during the terrifying situation.

When paramedics arrived, they discovered that his injuries were serious enough to require additional medical assistance.

Specialized intensive care paramedics were called to the property before a helicopter was dispatched to transport Woolman to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne, a major trauma center specializing in severe burns.

Doctors were particularly concerned about injuries to his mouth and airways, which can cause dangerous swelling and breathing complications.

Emergency crews reportedly considered placing him on a ventilator to protect his breathing but ultimately decided against the procedure.

After arriving at the hospital, Woolman was admitted to the trauma unit and began undergoing treatment for his burns.

However, his recovery took another unexpected turn when doctors discovered bleeding in his brain, along with a cyst.

The findings complicated his treatment and forced surgeons to postpone planned skin graft procedures on his injured arms.

Skin grafting involves transplanting healthy skin to damaged areas to help severe burns heal and reduce the risk of complications.

Woolman has since undergone grafting procedures but still faces an extended recovery.

He told the Daily Mail that he had already been hospitalized for two weeks and expected to remain there for approximately two more.

Although he is now able to speak about the accident, the reality star acknowledged that the physical and emotional toll has been overwhelming.

The exact cause of the brain bleeding has not been publicly established, and Woolman has not disclosed whether doctors believe it was directly related to his fall.

The hospitalization comes as Woolman was preparing for another television appearance.

He first became known to viewers during the fifth season of “Love Island Australia” in 2023, where he was involved in several memorable relationships and conflicts inside the villa.

More recently, he was spotted filming a guest appearance for the upcoming season of “Married at First Sight Australia.”

Woolman reportedly attended the televised wedding of his former “Love Island” co-star Zac Nunns, who is joining the dating series as a surprise contestant.

Nunns is expected to be paired with social media personality Vanilla Milla.

The appearance is expected to be brief, but it would mark another crossover between two of Australia’s popular reality television franchises.

For now, Woolman’s focus remains on recovering from an accident that could have had even more devastating consequences.

Although he has made enough progress to undergo skin graft surgery, he continues receiving hospital care, and the long-term effects of his injuries have not yet been determined.

His experience also highlights the dangers of outdoor fires, particularly when someone is working alone and immediate assistance may not be available.

After escaping the flames and making it back to his sister’s house, Woolman now faces the difficult process of healing and eventually returning to normal life.
