Colin Brown, a 16-year-old hockey player, is in critical condition and fighting for his life following a near-tragic incident that took place in St. Louis, Missouri, over the weekend.
The teenager was heading home with his father after a hockey game on Saturday night when he was struck by a bullet while they were driving.
According to First Alert 4, shots were fired into their vehicle, with Colin getting struck. His father rushed to emergency responders immediately thereafter.
Colin, who attends Christian Brothers College High School, was supposed to play another game on Sunday night, with the school scheduled to face Seckman Jaguars Ice Hockey Club. But the game was canceled.
Former NHL referee Tim Peel was among those who asked for prayers for Colin and wished him a speedy recovery.
“Game canceled, 16 year old boy in critical condition after horrific tragedy,” he wrote in a tweet. “I would ask that you keep young Colin and his family in your thoughts and obviously every single member of the hockey community will be rooting for him to make a full and hopefully speedy recovery following this terrible incident.”

— Tim Peel (@TimCPeel20) November 25, 2024Colin’s father has since urged the city of St. Louis to better support and equip the police so they could help prevent such violent incidents.
“First, we would like to express our gratitude to the SLMPD and the Illinois State Police, as well as the broader public safety community, for their continued efforts in apprehending the perpetrator(s) of this senseless crime against our beloved son, Colin,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
“As a family and as a former law enforcement official with over 28 years of experience, we believe that greater efforts are needed in the City of St. Louis and the surrounding region to support the police and equip them with the necessary tools to combat such senseless, violent gun crimes.”
Police have not identified any suspects and have asked anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.

Gun deaths are the number one cause of death for children under 18 and our laws allow gun makers and dealers to make lots of money selling guns to just about anybody in the USA as well as supplying gangs and other criminals in Latin America…..Ain’t that nice?
