Bill Belichick’s highly anticipated HBO docuseries has fizzled out—and sources say his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, is the reason why.
According to The Athletic, the football legend was gearing up to star in a behind-the-scenes series chronicling his new role as head coach at the University of North Carolina. But the project crumbled after Hudson reportedly demanded a central role in the production.
NFL Films had planned a two-month shoot at UNC, highlighting Belichick’s post-NFL chapter and leadership style with a fresh college team. The series never got off the ground—filming never even made it to Belichick’s close-ups.
In December, Hudson allegedly emailed UNC officials introducing herself as the chief operating officer of “Belichick Productions.” However, The Athletic found no official record of such a company. Just days before filming was set to begin in March, the NFL abruptly pulled the plug.
“The conversation took a turn we were not comfortable with,” NFL executive Jessica Boddy wrote in an email explaining the decision.
Hudson has maintained a visible, if unofficial, role at UNC since Belichick took the job in December. She’s been included in internal emails and communications with the university’s media staff. Her involvement had already raised eyebrows after Belichick’s awkward CBS interview aired, with insiders claiming she had heavy influence over what questions were allowed.
The cancellation came at a cost—UNC lost out on at least $200,000 in facility fees and a wave of national media exposure.
Belichick, 73, was reportedly eager to make the series. A prepared press quote showed him expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration with NFL Films and the opportunity to spotlight UNC’s rising program.
“I’ve been a fan of NFL Films for the entirety of my 51-year coaching career,” he said in the draft statement. “That time has arrived.”
But in the end, the spotlight never came. And the reported reason why—his girlfriend’s interference—has only fueled further criticism of the controversial relationship.
