Prince Harry is pushing hard to reconcile with his brother, Prince William, before the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, telling close friends that unity is “the only tribute their mother would have wanted,” sources tell RadarOnline.com.
The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex has reportedly been reaching out behind the scenes, urging William, 43, to set aside years of tension and stand alongside him at future memorial events, including the Invictus Games when they return to the UK in 2027.
The milestone anniversary, which falls that summer, has become a powerful focal point for Harry, who believes their fractured relationship risks overshadowing their mother’s legacy. “Harry keeps telling people they need to make peace for their mother,” one insider shared. “He wants to do something that truly honors her and believes she would want her sons standing together.”
But while Harry is eager for William’s support — or at least his blessing — the Prince of Wales remains reluctant. The ongoing fallout from Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive accusations against the royal family continues to loom large.
The brothers last stood side by side in 2021 to unveil a statue of Diana at Kensington Palace — a rare moment of unity that briefly gave royal watchers hope. But tensions deepened after Meghan accused the palace of neglect when she struggled with suicidal thoughts and alleged that racist comments were made about their son, Archie. A source close to William told RadarOnline.com, “He believes the accusations caused real and lasting harm. The pain is genuine, and it makes him very careful about showing any sign of reconciliation.”
Kate Middleton, 43, is also said to be hesitant about any public reunion between the brothers. “She holds deep respect for Diana, but comments from Harry and Meghan have hurt her,” an insider explained. “She does want to move on, yet she isn’t prepared for a public reconciliation. That leaves William in a tough spot.”
King Charles, 76, has reportedly urged unity as well while undergoing treatment for cancer. Sources say he wants nothing more than for Harry to “be back in the fold,” but the deep rift between his sons has proven difficult to mend. “As future king, William feels he must protect the institution,” one palace aide noted.
