Norman Reedus’ son, Mingus Lucien Reedus, has landed in the middle of a shocking scandal after being charged with assault for allegedly choking and beating his girlfriend — and his disturbing behavior following the arrest has only fueled the drama.
The 25-year-old model, son of The Walking Dead star and supermodel Helena Christensen, was arraigned on charges of reckless physical injury, aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment after an alleged violent fight with his 33-year-old girlfriend inside their Manhattan apartment. Mingus pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released without bail.
Hours later, he was spotted outside his West 16th Street apartment carrying his cat in a pet carrier, dressed in the same green shorts and black t-shirt he wore when he was arrested. But it wasn’t just his appearance that drew attention — it was his chilling words. When confronted by a reporter, Mingus allegedly asked, “You want to watch me kill myself?”
According to prosecutors, the alleged altercation turned violent when Mingus kicked and choked his girlfriend so forcefully she was lifted off the ground. His high-profile attorney, Priya Chaudhry — who also represented Marvel actor Jonathan Majors in his assault case — insists the situation has been misunderstood.
Chaudhry claims Mingus was actually trying to save his girlfriend after she allegedly threatened to swallow a handful of sleeping pills following the end of their five-month relationship. She emphasized that the victim “is not afraid” of Mingus and has since moved out, adding that the misdemeanor charges “speak volumes” compared to prosecutors’ claims.
This isn’t Mingus’ first brush with the law. In 2021, he was arrested at the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy for allegedly hitting a woman. Mingus later claimed he acted in self-defense and accepted a plea deal for disorderly conduct, which required counseling and a year without further trouble.
Mingus, Norman’s only child with Christensen, is due back in court on August 26. For now, the accusations — and his chilling outburst — have left fans and onlookers stunned.
