Ellen DeGeneres may have left California behind, but the former talk show host is still being pulled back into legal drama in the Golden State.
According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, Ellen is being sued over an alleged car crash that happened in Santa Barbara County back in October 2023.
The lawsuit claims Ellen ran a stop sign and slammed into another woman’s Tesla in a scary t-bone collision. The other driver says she came to a complete stop at the four-way intersection, checked for oncoming traffic, and began driving through when Ellen’s vehicle suddenly hit her.
The woman says she was injured in the crash and is now taking Ellen to court, accusing the former daytime star of negligence for allegedly blowing through the stop sign. She’s asking for damages, though the amount is not specified in the lawsuit.
The case brings Ellen back into headlines more than a year after stepping away from her long-running daytime show. Though she no longer lives in California, this lawsuit ties her once again to Santa Barbara, the upscale community she called home for years.
