A missing Minnesota woman was found alive after spending days trapped in a muddy puddle she compared to quicksand.
Kathryn Woessner, 68, was last seen on June 3 before she was discovered on June 6, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Two men, Mike Gravalin and Adam Sandbeck, found Woessner stuck in mud and water after she had reportedly been missing for several days.
According to the sheriff’s office, Woessner did not have any personal belongings with her when she was found.
Woessner told her rescuers that her car had gotten stuck, and she had been trying to get out when she walked around to the other side of the vehicle. That is when she slipped and fell into a puddle that was believed to be about 2 feet deep.
She told Gravalin and Sandbeck that the mud felt like quicksand, the men told KSTP.
Woessner said she had been stuck on her back for days, unable to free herself. By the time the men found her, she was seriously sunburned on her face.
The frightening discovery brought an end to the search for the missing woman, who had vanished days earlier.
Because of her medical conditions, Woessner was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd for treatment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities have not released further details about her condition.
