Grammy-nominated record producer Tay Keith, the hitmaker behind some of the biggest songs in modern hip-hop, was found dead inside his Nashville home on Thursday, police said.

He was just 29 years old.

The producer, whose real name was Brytavious Chambers, was discovered unresponsive after police performed a welfare check at his apartment on Martin Street in Nashville, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Authorities said no foul play is suspected. His cause of death is still pending autopsy results.

Keith was a Tennessee native who rose to fame as one of the most recognizable producers in hip-hop. Over the course of his career, he worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Drake, Beyoncé, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, and Sexyy Red.

His career included four No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Among them was Travis Scott’s massive 2018 hit “Sicko Mode,” which Keith helped produce while he was still a student at Middle Tennessee State University.

The song earned him a Grammy nomination in 2019.

Keith was nominated again in 2024 for his work on “Rich Flex” by Drake and 21 Savage, another major hit that helped cement his place as one of the most in-demand producers in the industry.

In recent years, Keith also became known for his frequent collaborations with Sexyy Red, including “Get It Sexxy” and “Pound Town.”

News of his death stunned fans and the music world, especially because of his young age and the major impact he had already made in such a short time.

From college student to Grammy-nominated producer, Tay Keith helped shape the sound of a generation. His sudden death leaves behind a legacy of chart-topping records and a music career that was still climbing.
