Dwyane Wade’s son, Zaire Wade, has been charged with a felony following his June arrest in connection with a suspected domestic violence incident.
Zaire, 24, was charged on Thursday, July 9, according to a felony criminal complaint.
The charge is felony injuring a cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or child’s parent. In the complaint, filed by Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman, prosecutors alleged that Zaire “willfully inflicted corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition” on the alleged victim, whose identity has not been made public.
According to the complaint, Zaire was in a romantic relationship with the alleged victim.
His arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on July 16 in Pasadena, California.
PEOPLE said it reached out to a spokesperson for Zaire and the Wade family for comment on the felony charge.
Zaire was arrested and booked in Los Angeles on June 21, according to arrest records previously reviewed. His bond was set at $50,000, and he bonded out of jail that same day. An emergency protective order was also obtained for the alleged victim.
A Burbank Police spokesperson previously stated that Zaire was arrested and booked for domestic violence, criminal threats and false imprisonment.
The alleged incident happened in Burbank, California, after police were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m. local time following reports of a woman screaming, NBC Los Angeles previously reported, citing police sources.
When emergency responders arrived, they reportedly found the woman with lacerations on her face and body. She was not taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the outlet.
Zaire, who followed his famous father into basketball, most recently played for the Cape Town Tigers of the Basketball Africa League. Dwyane Wade, 44, is an NBA Hall of Famer and owns a minority stake in the Utah Jazz.
Dwyane shares Zaire and daughter Zaya, 19, with his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches. He shares daughter Kaavia, 7, with his wife, Gabrielle Union, and son Xavier, 11, with Aja Metoyer. He is also the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 22.
The case against Zaire is still moving through court, with his arraignment set for July 16.
