A Chainsmokers concert in California took a frightening turn Friday night when 14 people were rushed to local hospitals after emergency crews were flooded with medical calls.
The incident unfolded at Discovery Meadow in San Jose, where the popular electronic music duo was performing for a large crowd.
The San Jose Fire Department said it began receiving reports of “multiple patients requiring medical attention” during the show and quickly called in additional resources.
Fire officials requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support units and a battalion chief to help manage the growing number of patients.
A total of 14 ambulances responded to the scene, and authorities said all 14 patients were transported to local hospitals.
The San Jose Police Department said the medical emergencies involved a variety of issues, including suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related problems.
Paramedics also treated some concertgoers at the park.
The concert began around 5 p.m. and ended by 10:34 p.m., according to local reports.
Police were also called in to help control traffic around the venue as emergency crews worked.
The Chainsmokers later shared photos and videos from the packed concert on Instagram showing a large crowd gathered in front of the stage.
Some people who attended the show also described seeing numerous concertgoers being taken away for medical treatment.
One Reddit user wrote that they saw “a lot of people getting taken out early.”
Another claimed they saw several people “crash out,” adding that some appeared to be in serious condition.
Authorities have not released the identities or current conditions of the 14 people who were hospitalized.
