A popular influencer died at age 43 after undergoing a penis-enlargement procedure while on a luxury vacation in Thailand.
Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo reportedly began suffering chest pain and fainted twice after the cosmetic procedure before he was rushed to a hospital.
Ubiribo, a British-Nigerian influencer with more than 100,000 Instagram followers, was vacationing in Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, at the time.
According to evidence presented at an inquest, Ubiribo had 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid, along with lidocaine, injected into his penis as part of the enlargement procedure.
The name of the clinic where the procedure was performed was not disclosed during proceedings at the Inner West Coroners’ Court.
Later that day, Ubiribo and his wife went to a massage parlor at their hotel, the Marriott in Bangkok.
While there, he reportedly complained of chest pain and fainted twice.
An ambulance rushed him to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he told doctors he had undergone the cosmetic procedure earlier in the day.
Doctors initially believed he may have suffered a pulmonary embolism, a potentially deadly condition in which a blood clot blocks an artery in the lungs. He was transferred to intensive care but later died.
A postmortem examination carried out in the United Kingdom later found hyaluronic acid in Ubiribo’s lungs.
Dr. Thongchai Chansirirattingkul of Sukhumvit Hospital said Ubiribo had experienced two episodes of syncope, or fainting, while receiving a massage.
“He had had 40 milliliters of penile filler injections earlier that day,” the doctor said.
Ubiribo was widely known online for showing off his lavish lifestyle.
At the time of his death, he reportedly owned a $1.1 million home in Los Angeles as well as a $600,000 apartment in London.
His extravagant lifestyle was reflected in his funeral, where he was laid to rest in a gold coffin.
The service was attended by several Nigerian celebrities, including Afrobeats superstar Davido.
Speaking at the funeral, Davido said Ubiribo’s death was difficult to accept.
“I won’t lie, it is not easy when someone like Tiny leaves,” he said. “His absence is heavy, it doesn’t feel real.”
He described Ubiribo as a man with enormous energy and presence, adding that it was difficult to imagine speaking about him in the past tense.
