Stevie Nicks is mourning the death of her only sibling, Christopher Aaron Nicks, who died at age 72 after quietly battling cancer for more than two years.
Christopher died on Friday, Sept. 4, surrounded by family, according to his daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks.
Nixi announced the heartbreaking news on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself holding her father’s hand.
“Second star to the right, and straight on till morning,” she wrote. “I love you, daddy. Rest easy.”
In a separate Instagram Stories post, Nixi revealed that her father had been fighting cancer privately for roughly two-and-a-half years.
“It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my father, Christopher Aaron Nicks, early this morning, surrounded by family,” she wrote.
Nixi explained that some people may not have known about his diagnosis because Christopher deliberately kept his illness private.
“If this is news to you, please know it was because he never wanted people to worry about him that he kept this to himself,” she said.
The family has not publicly revealed what type of cancer he had.
Christopher was the younger brother and only sibling of Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks, 78.
He shared daughter Nixi with his former wife, Lori Perry-Nicks, who previously worked as one of Stevie’s backup singers.
Nixi remembered her father as someone who left a lasting impact on both his family and his many friends.
“I know that he has left his mark on so many people, and this will leave many more than his immediate family with a piece of them missing,” she wrote.
She added that Christopher’s close friends, whom she described as his “lost boys,” meant the world to him.
Nixi ended her tribute with an emotional farewell.
“Rest easy, Coach. We will see you in Neverland,” she wrote.
On Saturday, Sept. 5, Nixi shared another touching photo showing Christopher holding one of her children, adding a broken-heart emoji.
Stevie has not yet publicly commented on her younger brother’s death.
Christopher remained close to his famous sister throughout their lives and was also familiar to members of the Fleetwood Mac family.
Mick Fleetwood, 79, paid tribute to Christopher by sharing a photo of him with Stevie and remembering his longtime friend.
“The passing of Chris Nicks has brought so many memories of his amazing life,” Fleetwood wrote, adding that much of Christopher’s life was connected to Fleetwood Mac.
“His zest for life will be a forever beacon of inspiration,” he continued. “Chris, you will be missed by me and I know the Family of Fleetwood Mac. Peace and love.”
Christopher was 72.
