Celebrity chef Rachael Ray is back in the spotlight after months of speculation about her appearance, stepping out in New York City with a big smile and her signature sense of humor.

The 58-year-old Food Network star appeared in good spirits Thursday, October 15, as she hosted the 18th annual Blue Moon Burger Bash during the New York City Wine & Food Festival.

Ray, who has been a longtime fixture at the popular culinary competition, was joined by comedian Bert Kreischer for an evening filled with burgers, celebrity chefs and plenty of laughs.

The event took place on the rooftop at Pier 17 in Manhattan, where some of New York City’s best chefs competed for top honors.

Ray enthusiastically greeted the crowd and encouraged attendees to vote for their favorite burgers, reminding everyone how much work the competing chefs had put into the evening.

“A huge crowd here! My love to everyone within the sound of our voices!” she told the audience.

Kreischer also praised his cohost, revealing that the two had recently filmed an episode of his cooking show, Something’s Burning.

The comedian joked about his experience cooking alongside the television personality, prompting Ray to chime in with her own playful remarks.

“I didn’t burn anything, and neither did he!” Ray joked, complimenting Kreischer on the homemade tortellini he had prepared.

The lighthearted exchange delighted the crowd and offered a familiar glimpse of the energetic personality that made Ray a household name.

Her appearance was particularly notable because fans had spent much of the summer expressing concern about changes in her looks.

In July, Ray shared an Instagram cooking video showing herself preparing to season a tray of meat.

But instead of discussing the recipe, numerous viewers focused on her appearance, with some saying they barely recognized the longtime television host.

“I didn’t even recognize her,” one commenter wrote.

Another asked, “I haven’t seen her in SO LONG. I’m genuinely wondering.. is she okay?”

The speculation followed earlier online discussions about Ray’s appearance and speech in videos shared with fans.

Ray has not publicly disclosed a medical diagnosis connected to those concerns, and there is no verified evidence that changes in her appearance indicate a serious health problem.

An unidentified source previously told In Touch that Ray was frustrated by the speculation and felt people were overreacting.

The source also claimed that some people close to her were concerned, although those anonymous statements have not been independently confirmed.

Despite the online attention, Ray has continued working on culinary projects and making public appearances.

The Burger Bash has been one of her signature events for nearly two decades, bringing together celebrated chefs and food lovers while supporting charitable causes.

This year’s competition featured a lineup of celebrity judges, including Anthony Anderson, Ana Navarro, Cedric the Entertainer, Jet Tila and Sophie Flay.

The winners included Nowon, which received the People’s Choice award, and Gotham Burger Social Club, which earned the Judges’ Choice honor.

Ray also took time during the festival to reflect on her personal life, sharing a sweet memory about her husband, John Cusimano.

In an interview with PEOPLE, she recalled falling for Cusimano after learning that one of his favorite meals was carbonara, a simple Italian pasta dish.

The couple married in Italy in 2005 and recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.

Ray first rose to fame with the Food Network series 30 Minute Meals before becoming one of television’s most recognizable cooking personalities.

Her syndicated daytime program, The Rachael Ray Show, ran for 17 seasons before ending in 2023.

Since then, she has focused on new projects, including her production company Free Food Studios, culinary programming and other business ventures.

While some longtime fans have continued discussing her appearance, Ray’s latest outing placed the attention back on something she has always loved: food, entertaining and connecting with an audience.
