Zac Efron was hospitalized while on vacation in Ibiza, Spain.
The “High School Musical” alum, 36, had a “minor swimming incident” at a villa on Friday, TMZ reported on Saturday.
Efron was reportedly found inside the pool by two villa employees and was taken to the hospital “as a precautionary measure.”
His rep told PEOPLE that the actor was released from the hospital Saturday morning.
“He is fine,” the rep said.
A few days before the incident, Efron was spotted onstage during DJ Martin Garrix’s performance at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club.
Efron danced next to Garrix, 28, as the crowd cheered in a fan’s TikTok video.
Earlier this summer, Efron was hard at work making numerous public appearances to promote his Netflix rom-com, “A Family Affair.”
In the film, Efron plays Chris Cole, a young actor who falls for a widowed writer named Brooke (Nicole Kidman). Their relationship doesn’t sit well with Brooke’s daughter Zara (Joey King), who works for Chris.
Efron did an interview with Parade where he discussed if he could relate to his character.
“It’s kind of a mix. I think there are feelings that he’s experiencing that I’ve definitely felt myself at times, but I just kind of amplified some of the ways that I guess he’s more afraid of things,” he explained.
“Unfortunately, when you’re going through some of those emotions, you can tend to take it out on the people closest to you, which he does to Zara,” Efron continued. “She’s probably his best friend and there’s nobody he can really be himself in front of, and I think that shines a light on how wonderful their relationship is.”
Some fans who watched “A Family Affair” called out Efron for his face transformation on social media.
One of the comments on X (formerly Twitter) said that Efron “looks like an entirely different person” now.
The “Iron Claw” actor previously addressed rumors he had plastic surgery in a September 2022 interview with Men’s Health.
He revealed that he broke his jaw around 2018, causing his muscles in his face and jaw to enlarge.
“The masseters just grew,” Efron said. “They just got really, really big.”
He also revealed that his mom, Starla Baskett, let him know about the plastic surgery speculation.
“If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work,” he said in the interview.
