Jack Osbourne has opened up for the first time about the heartbreaking moment he learned his father, legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, had passed away.
In a 16-minute emotional video posted to his YouTube channel, the 39-year-old reality star recalled receiving the devastating news in July while back home in Los Angeles.
“My father passed away around 10 a.m. UK time,” Jack said, visibly holding back tears. “I was in Los Angeles, had been back for about a week after spending time with him in England. After his last show, I stayed with my kids at the family house. My dad was in such an amazing mood. Looking back now, I’m so grateful for that time. My dad was great, he was happy.”
Jack shared that he woke up to a knock at his door around 3:45 a.m. and instantly knew something was wrong. “Someone who has worked for my family for about 30 years was outside. When I saw it was him, I just knew. That’s when I was told my father had passed,” he said softly.
Though heartbroken, Jack said he finds comfort in knowing Ozzy, 76, is no longer suffering after years of declining health. “I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go, and I think people saw that at the show,” he admitted.
After receiving the news, Jack immediately booked the first flight back to England to be with his mom Sharon and sister Kelly as the family prepared for the public farewell.
The grieving son also didn’t hold back when responding to Pink Floyd rocker Roger Waters, who made cruel remarks about Ozzy shortly after his passing. Waters, 81, dismissed Ozzy’s music and Black Sabbath’s legacy entirely, saying he “couldn’t give a f–k.”
Jack hit back hard on Instagram, writing: “Hey Roger Waters. F–k you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bulls–t in the press. My father always thought you were a c–t — thanks for proving him right.”
Despite the controversy, Jack’s heartfelt tribute makes it clear just how much Ozzy meant to his family and fans around the world.
