Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby is facing another family headline after her son, Robert Cosby Jr., was arrested on multiple charges earlier this month.
The 22-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday, Sept. 6, after police responded to a domestic violence call just outside Salt Lake City, according to TMZ. Officers allege Robert Jr. tried to break into his father-in-law’s home by climbing through a dog door before a confrontation broke out on the front lawn. He’s accused of assaulting someone during the incident and initially refusing officers’ commands to get on the ground.
He was eventually arrested and booked on charges including assault, criminal trespassing, failure to comply with law enforcement, and three counts of violating a court order, per PEOPLE. He’s being held on a $10,000 bond and has not been released.
The arrest comes just days after Mary opened up about her son’s ongoing struggles with sobriety during a candid interview with Dorinda Medley on SiriusXM’s Reality Checked. “He’s doing as good as he can. It’s his journey. I can’t make his mind up for him,” Mary shared. “I can just only push him, encourage him and love him.”
She admitted it’s been painful to watch him struggle, adding, “It’s hurtful to see his dad is most of the time devastated. But at the same time, I have hope and I believe in him. I know he’s got all the tools, the willpower, and the support. He just needs to make up his mind.”
This isn’t Robert Jr.’s first run-in with the law. Back in 2022, he was arrested for DUI after reportedly driving without a license and ignoring traffic laws. He accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to the DUI charge while the others were dropped.
