The Los Angeles home of The Exorcist star Linda Blair was reportedly raided by dozens of officials as authorities investigated possible violations involving the large number of rescue dogs living on her property.
Blair, 67, was at her residence when approximately 70 law enforcement officers, investigators and Animal Control personnel arrived at around 6 a.m. Friday, according to TMZ.
Officials were reportedly executing an investigative search warrant intended to determine how many dogs were being housed on the 2.5-acre property and whether the animals were being properly cared for.
Blair is not accused of any criminal wrongdoing.
The Oscar-nominated actress reportedly has a permit allowing her to house about 60 dogs. However, Animal Control officers allegedly counted approximately 200 dogs during the search.
The investigation also reportedly involved possible property violations, including concerns related to electrical panels and other conditions at the home.
Animal Control officers were joined by investigators from the district attorney’s office. The operation was reportedly carried out at the request of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Despite the massive response, none of the dogs were removed from the property.
Blair was reportedly present throughout the search and cooperated with authorities.
It was not immediately clear whether she received any citations or whether officials planned to take further action.
Blair became famous for playing the possessed child Regan MacNeil in the 1973 horror classic The Exorcist, a performance that earned her an Academy Award nomination.
In the decades since, she has become a passionate animal-rights advocate.
The actress founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation in 2004. The nonprofit organization rescues and rehabilitates dogs that have been abused, neglected or abandoned.
The foundation has focused heavily on saving animals from overcrowded shelters and finding permanent homes for dogs considered difficult to place.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the investigation or explained whether the number of dogs allegedly found on the property will result in penalties.
