Sharon Stone felt as though she went back to the start following the health complication, particularly from a career standpoint.

Sharon Stone’s career completely changed thanks to Basic Instinct. Suddenly, she was the center of attention, while her belongings were also stolen at the height of her fame. It was clear her life had changed at that point.

However, despite the fame and success, things were not always easy behind the scenes. Stone struggled during a custody battle for her child, while her career was also never the same.

According to the actress, she believes it was all due to her medical condition, as it caused Hollywood to turn their back on the ’90s star.

We’ll reveal what went on with Sharon Stone, and why her career took a turn after her scary medical condition. We’ll also reveal her current circumstances, and why she decided to drop her agent.

Sharon Stone Revealed Her Dior Contract Saved Her Career After She Struggled During Her Health Complication

Opening up alongside Variety, Sharon Stone revealed that her career took a turn after sustaining a dangerous stroke. The actress admitted things were made difficult, and it took seven years to recover from.

Stone tells Variety, “People treated me in a way that was brutally unkind. From other women in my own business to the female judge who handled my custody case, I don’t think anyone grasps how dangerous a stroke is for women and what it takes to recover — it took me about seven years.”

Stone saw her career come crashing down, and the same held true for her financial situation, as big pay days weren’t as prevalent compared to her post-success after Basic Instinct.

However, Stone did credit Dior for giving her a major endorsement deal, and one what aided her struggling financial situation.

“I was so grateful to [LVMH head and now the second-richest person in the world] Bernard Arnault, who rescued me by giving me a Dior contract. But I had to remortgage my house. I lost everything I had. I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know?”

Stone makes a major reveal that things started to change after her stroke.

Sharon Stone Believes Hollywood Turned Cruel Against Her After Sustaining A Stroke

“It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous — and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten.”

A major comparison, and one Stone believes is entirely accurate when looking back at her career. The actress revealed that after suffering from a stroke, she did her best to keep it a secret given that she knew it might hurt her career.

“When it first happened, I didn’t want to tell anybody because you know if something goes wrong with you, you’re out. Something went wrong with me — I’ve been out for 20 years.”

Despite all her success from the past, Stone felt as though she went back to the start following the health complication, particularly from a career standpoint.

“You find yourself at the back of the line in your business, as I did. You have to figure yourself out all over again,” she added.

The changing relationship with Hollywood would cause Stone to make major changes behind the scenes and one of them can still be felt today.

Sharon Stone Is Doing Things Differently Today, Opting Against An Agent

Back in 2021, Sharon Stone made other reveals about her career and one of them including opting against an agent. In fact, for a certain amount of time, Stone decided against a team and a manager, choosing to do things on her own.

She tells Euro News, “I did not have agents or managers for a while, and I still don’t have an agent, though I do now have a manager.”

Stone took matters into her own hands, getting lots of bookings online through platforms like Instagram.

“For a long time, I was contacted directly, or through Instagram. And I found I had a lot more offers than I did when I had an agent. I think with agencies, they take your offers and discuss them at board meetings and discuss whether they might be better for another client, so I don’t think you get all of your offers.”

Stone went on to admit that her career changed for the better without an agent. Suddenly, she was getting multiple offers per week, while the same did not hold true with an agent by her side.

“I can only imagine this as I was getting zero offers, but when I didn’t have an agent the very next week, I was getting six, ten, twelve offers. I don’t think that would happen instantly if it wasn’t the case. I’m now just trying to take my time with projects.”

The actress continues to keep her career going, with a future project set for a release in 2024, What About Love.

  1. One of my favorites. She was gorgeous , she had the assets and not afraid to share them with us….all this before American women started to try to sell us that obesity was also attractive.
    Best of luck to her.
