Prince Harry’s years-long feud with the royal family could come with an enormous financial price, as a new report claims the Duke of Sussex is increasingly worried that his strained relationship with King Charles and Prince William could threaten his future inheritance.
The 42-year-old royal, who recently returned to Britain with Meghan Markle and their two children, is reportedly concerned that his estrangement from the monarchy could leave him excluded from important decisions about his father’s personal fortune.
According to RadarOnline, an unnamed royal insider claims Harry’s desire to repair his relationship with Charles goes beyond emotional reconciliation, with concerns about his family’s long-term financial security also weighing on him.
The source claims Harry fears he could lose out on a substantial inheritance if his relationship with the king remains fractured. However, there is no public evidence that Charles intends to disinherit his younger son, and the details of the monarch’s private estate arrangements have not been disclosed.
The report comes as Harry has publicly expressed a renewed desire to heal the bitter family divisions that followed his departure from royal duties in 2020.
During an October interview with GQ, Harry acknowledged the pain surrounding his relationships with Charles, 77, and William, 44, and insisted he wanted to find a way forward.
“I want it to work out,” Harry said, adding that reconciliation was his priority.
The duke also spoke about moving past old grievances, suggesting that the family’s long-running disputes were no longer worth prolonging.
But according to the RadarOnline source, Harry’s difficult relationship with William remains a major source of uncertainty. As heir to the throne, William has a central role in the monarchy’s future, while Harry remains outside its working ranks.
The insider suggested Harry worries that his brother’s closeness to Charles could leave him out of discussions about family finances. The source acknowledged, however, that there is no evidence William has attempted to influence any inheritance arrangements.
The financial stakes are complicated by the royal family’s unusual wealth structure. Much of the property associated with the monarchy, including the Crown Estate, is not Charles’ personal property and cannot simply be distributed among his children. Other privately held assets are subject to separate inheritance arrangements, the details of which remain confidential.
Harry and Meghan, 45, have also faced considerable expenses since stepping away from royal duties, particularly for private security and maintaining their residences.
Although the Sussexes returned to Britain in August with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, they have retained property in California and Portugal. Their decision to raise their children partly in Britain has fueled speculation that Harry hopes to restore closer family ties after years of public conflict.
The couple previously signed lucrative media agreements after leaving the monarchy, but their current financial circumstances have not been fully disclosed. RadarOnline’s claims that Harry views a possible inheritance as a way to cover mounting expenses remain unverified.
For now, Harry’s hopes of reconciliation appear to be far more public than any discussions about royal money. Neither Buckingham Palace nor the Sussexes has confirmed that an inheritance dispute exists.
Whether Charles ultimately leaves Harry a substantial portion of his personal wealth remains unknown. But the latest speculation adds another layer of uncertainty to a royal family feud that has already played out across interviews, television documentaries and Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare.
