Nikkie Brass, now 34, recently opened up about her terrifying meeting with Rex Heuermann, the Long Island man accused of killing three sex workers and dismembering their bodies before leaving them near Gilgo Beach.

On her TikTok account, @your_recovery_stylist, Brass, who was in her mid-20s at the time, described the encounter and how Heuermann had left her feeling quite uneasy on their date over ten years prior.

Brass claimed that while Heuermann recounted the Gilgo Beach serial killings, her instincts began to take over, showing that she knew information about the case that hadn’t yet been made public.

She abruptly ended the date due to this revelation and his entire demeanor. Brass used to visit dating services when living on Long Island, and her TikTok post serves as a caution to others, especially women, about the possible risks of doing so.

Brass, like many other Long Islanders, kept a close eye on the four teenage sex workers who were killed in the unsolved Gilgo Beach serial murder case. Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old Manhattan architect and father of two, is the only client who is accused by the prosecution of carrying out these killings. Brass was especially alarmed by Heuermann’s knowledge of a victim whose demise had not yet been made public at the time of their date.

She thought about telling the police about her experience, but she eventually made the decision to leave on the scheduled day because she was familiar with the continuing investigation. Brass described the particulars of the date in her TikTok post. Heuermann’s home in Massapequa Park is 50 minutes distant from where they first met at a seafood restaurant in Port Jefferson.

The interview appeared to be going normally until Heuermann questioned Brass about her interest in true crime. This prompted a debate about the Gilgo Beach murderer, and Brass felt nervous when Heuermann revealed his extensive knowledge of the case. She now thinks, based on Heuermann’s descriptions, that there might have been others involved.

Heuermann became more animated and appeared to be replaying the events in his thoughts as the conversation went on. Brass made an effort to change the topic and hurried through the rest of the meal. Brass hesitated and insisted on driving her own vehicle to follow Heuermann when he offered going back to his house.

Heuermann, however, grew irate and persistent, forcing her into his vehicle. Brass remained firm, feeling more and more uneasy and worried, and eventually departed. In her TikTok post, Brass expressed relief and gratitude for her gut feeling to leave the date at that precise moment.

She never again spoke with Heuermann. Brass has now spoken out to caution others, especially women, about the possible risks associated with meeting individuals online and to stress the significance of following one’s gut instincts in potentially perilous circumstances.

On Wednesday morning, Nikkie Brass will speak in-depth about her meeting with Rex Heuermann during an interview that will air on Good Morning America.
