Former Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman, 37, recently welcomed her first child, a daughter named Harper, just nine days ago. However, her postpartum journey hasn’t been without challenges. Over the weekend, Dorfman took to social media to share her experience of returning to the hospital for surgery shortly after being discharged with her newborn.
Posting a heartfelt update on Instagram, Dorfman shared a photo of herself holding baby Harper in a hospital bed. “Welp, we’re back! This time for Mama,” she wrote, explaining she needed a “quick and safe procedure” but made time for snuggles with her “little nugget” first. Adding humor to her post, she noted, “Motherhood changes you quick—never been less excited for anesthesia.”
In another update, Dorfman emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body during postpartum recovery. She shared, “Lesson learned: No matter how clueless you are about motherhood, you still know your body best! Your instincts are valid (and probably right).”
Dorfman explained that severe pain led her to seek medical attention despite common advice suggesting postpartum recovery simply takes time. “After trying every home remedy, I finally called my doctors, and they told me to come right in,” she wrote. Doctors discovered two hematomas causing her pain, necessitating a straightforward yet daunting procedure just days after giving birth.
Reflecting on the experience, Dorfman expressed gratitude for her healthcare team while encouraging other mothers to prioritize their well-being. “Trust your body, trust your instincts, and know your doctors truly care about your health,” she urged. “I felt guilt worrying about myself instead of my daughter, but I realized she’s no good if I’m no good.
Dorfman’s openness resonated with many of her followers, sparking private messages that helped her feel less alone. She highlighted the general lack of postpartum care and support, hoping her story might help others navigating similar challenges.
Married to Blaine Hart, a senior vice president at a real estate firm, Dorfman tied the knot in May 2023. She first rose to fame in 2014 on Juan Pablo Galavis’s season of The Bachelor before leading her own season of The Bachelorette.
Through her candid updates, Dorfman is not only embracing motherhood but also shedding light on the often-overlooked realities of postpartum recovery.
