Canadian tennis star Gabriela Dabrowski shocked fans by revealing she achieved an extraordinary season—including winning an Olympic medal and reaching the Wimbledon doubles final—while battling breast cancer.

The three-time major champion shared on Instagram that she was diagnosed in April, underwent surgery, and took a three-month hiatus from tennis. In a remarkable turn of events, Dabrowski paused her treatment in June to compete at Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics, where she clinched a bronze medal.

After her Olympic success, she resumed radiation therapy and made her return at the U.S. Open in late August. Reflecting on the emotional journey, Dabrowski wrote:

“It all seems surreal. If you saw me smiling more on court in the past six months, it was genuine. My cancer diagnosis was the catalyst for more sustained change. When the threat of losing everything I’d worked for my entire life became a real possibility, only then did I begin to authentically appreciate what I had.”

Dabrowski capped off her incredible year by winning the WTA Finals title, proving her resilience both on and off the court.
