Chaos erupted aboard a Saudia Airlines flight when a passenger allegedly punched a crew member and tried to open a cabin door just seconds after touchdown at London’s Heathrow Airport.
The shocking incident happened around 1 p.m. local time on Aug. 28 after a flight from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, had landed. According to the Metropolitan Police, a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of endangering an aircraft, two counts of assault, abusive behavior toward crew members, and damaging the plane.
Witnesses told The Sun that the man became agitated after the plane touched down and “went berserk,” refusing to wait for the normal disembarkation process. He allegedly struck a crew member while trying to open the cabin door, causing chaos among passengers and families on board.
“It was chaos on board and very frightening for families,” one passenger said. “He just wanted off the plane immediately, and when the crew tried to stop him, he lashed out.”
Photos from the scene show multiple police vans, fire trucks, and ambulances surrounding the jet on the runway. Firefighters even used a raised crane to access the cabin door while police boarded the aircraft to arrest the suspect.
The man has since been released under investigation as authorities continue gathering evidence. Saudia Airlines has not yet commented on the incident.
