Miss Universe Jamaica Dr. Gabrielle Henry is finally heading home after a terrifying onstage fall that left her hospitalized in Thailand for weeks.

The 27-year-old beauty queen, who’s also a medical doctor, was seriously injured during the Miss Universe preliminary evening gown competition in Bangkok on November 19. Witnesses say Henry suddenly disappeared through an opening on stage — and the scene quickly turned from glamorous to horrifying.

According to a new statement from the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), Henry suffered an intracranial hemorrhage, a fracture, facial lacerations, and other severe injuries. She was rushed to intensive care, where doctors kept her under constant neurological monitoring for days.

Over three weeks later, MUO confirmed Henry is stable enough to return to Jamaica — but only under the watch of a full medical escort team. She’ll continue her recovery at a hospital back home.

The organization says it has paid all of Henry’s hospital, medical, and rehab costs in Thailand, as well as the travel and living expenses for her mother and sister, who stayed by her side throughout her ordeal. MUO also pledged to cover her future medical care.

“From the time the incident took place, the Miss Universe Organization has stood beside Gabrielle and her family as if she were their own,” the statement read. Henry’s family thanked fans and supporters worldwide for their “love, prayers, and encouragement.”

But the story took a tense turn after some contestants accused pageant leadership of blaming Henry for the fall. Miss Haiti, Melissa Sapini, told People that officials allegedly suggested Henry “wasn’t paying attention.” MUO has since denied that claim, calling it “entirely inaccurate.”

Miss Universe co-owner Raúl Rocha also weighed in on Instagram, thanking fans for their prayers and condemning what he called “cruel and insensitive” rumors about the incident. “May this be a lesson,” he wrote. “Let’s turn hate into kindness.”

Henry’s recovery marks a bittersweet chapter in what should have been her dream moment on one of the world’s biggest stages — a reminder that even the most dazzling night in pageant history can take a shocking turn.
