Newly crowned Miss Universe Fátima Bosch Fernández gave fans a frightening moment over the weekend after suddenly collapsing during a public appearance in Ecuador.
The 2025 titleholder was attending the Fruit and Flower Festival when the incident happened in front of thousands of spectators. In video circulating online, Fátima can be seen smiling, waving, and blowing kisses to the crowd — before her demeanor noticeably shifts.
Within seconds, she appears unsteady and drops to her knees.

Event officials quickly rushed to her side as the crowd looked on. Paramedics treated her at the scene, and organizers later relieved her of her duties for the remainder of the day so she could undergo medical testing.
Neither Fátima nor the Miss Universe Organization has publicly confirmed what caused the sudden collapse.
Despite the scare, witnesses noted that she remained poised throughout the ordeal, maintaining composure even as help arrived.
The moment adds to what has already been a whirlwind year for the pageant queen.
Fátima was crowned Miss Universe 2025 in November, a victory that sparked heated debate among fans. Weeks earlier, pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil had referred to her as a “dummy,” a remark that reportedly led to backlash and even a contestant walkout in her defense.
Her win in Thailand was seen by supporters as a triumphant comeback, but not everyone agreed with the judges’ decision. Many viewers believed Miss Côte d’Ivoire Olivia Yacé — who finished as 4th runner-up — should have taken the crown. Others argued that fan favorites like Miss Philippines or Miss Thailand were more deserving.
Former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova even voiced support for Miss Thailand, saying she considered her the true winner in her eyes.
