A heartbreaking update has left fans of My 600-Lb. Life in shock after one of the show’s former stars has passed away at just 30 years old.
Dolly Martinez, who appeared on season 10 of the hit TLC series, has died, according to a message shared by her sister, Lindsey Cooper.
The emotional announcement revealed just how much Martinez meant to those closest to her.
“My sister had the brightest personality. She could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit,” Cooper wrote. “She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her warmth will stay with us forever.”
While the family did not confirm an official cause of death, Cooper shared that Martinez had been in the hospital “fighting for her life” just one day before she passed.
In her message, she also found comfort in the idea that her sister is now reunited with their father.
“While our hearts are broken, I find peace knowing she is with our dad again. I can only imagine that reunion,” she wrote, adding, “You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten.”
Martinez first gained attention when she appeared on My 600 Lb Life, a series that follows individuals struggling with severe obesity as they attempt to turn their lives around.
At the time of filming, she weighed nearly 600 pounds and was battling food addiction along with serious mental health challenges. She also relied on supplemental oxygen.
Although she was not approved for weight loss surgery during her episode, she did manage to lose around 40 pounds—something fans saw as a step in the right direction.
Her story, like many featured on the show, highlighted just how difficult and complex these health battles can be.
Sadly, Martinez is not the first person from the series to pass away. Over the years, several former participants have died, underscoring the serious risks tied to extreme obesity and related health issues.
