A well-known television personality has died following a tense encounter with law enforcement in Colorado, in a case authorities say stemmed from a mental health crisis.

The incident unfolded Monday, April 20, near the small mountain community of Nederland, outside Boulder. According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an emergency call around 11 a.m. and found the man—later identified as David Wilcock—outside a residence and armed.

Officials say a confrontation followed, during which Wilcock turned the weapon on himself. Deputies searched the property and confirmed no one else was involved, adding there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office are continuing to review the case, with the official cause and manner of death to be formally determined.

Wilcock’s family later confirmed the heartbreaking news, sharing that he died by suicide after what they described as a long struggle with depression and significant financial stress.

In the days leading up to his death, Wilcock had posted an emotional message to his followers, hinting at personal difficulties.

“I’m not yet sure if I’m doing a show tomorrow… I’ve had some very intense stuff going on,” he wrote, before thanking fans for their support and expressing appreciation for the community that followed his work.

Originally from New York, Wilcock studied psychology at SUNY New Paltz and briefly worked in a psychiatric setting before pursuing a very different path. He became widely known for his work in the paranormal space, focusing on UFO theories and extraterrestrial life.

He gained mainstream attention through appearances on shows like Ancient Aliens and Cosmic Disclosure, where he discussed extraterrestrial theories and alternative history topics. He also authored multiple books and hosted lectures and online programs, building a devoted following over the years.

Following news of his death, tributes quickly poured in online. Many fans remembered him as kind and thoughtful, while others pointed to the emotional toll visible in his final public appearances.

One commenter wrote, “Rest in peace… mental health is so important,” while another said, “He always seemed like a nice guy.”

The loss has also sparked intense discussion across social media, with some focusing on his final livestream and others reflecting on the pressures he may have been facing behind the scenes.
