What was supposed to be a fun night at a popular fair in Spain quickly turned into a nightmare when a high-flying ride suddenly failed—sending riders plunging toward the ground in a shocking moment caught on camera.

The incident happened Friday, April 24, at around 8:20 p.m. during the Seville Fair, one of the city’s biggest annual events. According to the Seville Emergency Service Department, a cable snapped on the Steel Max ride—a bungee-style attraction that launches a two-person capsule hundreds of feet into the air.

Video of the incident shows the capsule being catapulted high above the fairgrounds before disaster strikes. As the riders swing through the air, the cable suddenly gives way, causing the capsule to drop and leaving those inside dangling in distress.

Panic quickly spread through the crowd as people watched the terrifying scene unfold.

Emergency crews rushed in immediately. Firefighters secured the area while Civil Protection teams responded on the ground. Authorities confirmed that four people were injured in the incident, including two children who were on the ride and two individuals who were struck by debris below.

Despite the frightening nature of the accident, officials say all injuries were considered minor. Two of the victims—those inside the ride—were transported to a nearby health center for further evaluation, while others were treated at the scene.

Footage from the aftermath shows the riders still strapped into their seats as they were brought down, before being placed on the ground and attended to by paramedics.

Police have since launched an investigation into what caused the malfunction.

“Local Police have inspected the documentation. There was rapid intervention of all emergency services,” officials said in a statement.

The Seville Fair, held annually in the Los Remedios area along the river, is a major celebration that draws large crowds every April.
