A messy and deeply personal situation involving General Hospital star Kirsten Storms is now unfolding in court — after her ex-husband took legal action over concerns about her well-being.

According to court documents, Storms’ ex, Brandon Barash, filed for an emergency restraining order back in December 2025, and a judge has since granted it. The filing reportedly centers around what Barash described as a “mental health crisis.”

Barash, who shares a 12-year-old daughter with Storms, claimed that months before filing, she told him she had been experiencing delusions and hallucinations. He also alleged that at one point, she expressed concern about her ability to care for their child and suggested she might not be fit to have parenting time.

The situation reportedly escalated further behind the scenes.

According to the documents, Barash’s current wife, Isabella, helped get Storms admitted to a hospital, where she was placed on a psychiatric hold. After her release, Barash claims Storms never acknowledged the hospitalization.

Additional claims in the filing paint a troubling picture. A friend of Storms allegedly told Barash that the actress had repeated emotional breakdowns and episodes where she believed she was hearing voices. That same friend also claimed Storms may have been misusing Adderall and other substances.

Barash also alleged that Storms had been couch-surfing for months between late 2024 and mid-2025 because she believed people were following her and her daughter. After eventually moving to Tennessee, he said she continued to express fears that people were breaking into her apartment and tampering with her belongings.

Earlier this month, Storms appeared to reference those concerns publicly.

She shared security camera footage on social media, claiming someone had entered her apartment while she was away and expressing concern about possible access to her phone and iCloud accounts. She also said she had been trying to get answers from her building management and local police.

Shortly after, Storms posted that she had received an eviction notice from her apartment, saying it came after she reported the alleged break-in and tried to contact the leasing office.

Neither Storms nor Barash has publicly commented on the court case.

The situation comes after a series of health challenges for the actress. In 2021, Storms underwent brain surgery to remove a noncancerous cyst. In 2025, she revealed doctors had discovered a brain aneurysm during a follow-up scan, which left her shaken and prompted major life changes — including moving from Los Angeles to Tennessee with her daughter.

At the time, Storms said stress may have played a role in her health issues and explained that the move was partly to improve her mental and physical well-being.

She also addressed false rumors that circulated online about a previous hospitalization, saying she had not attempted to harm herself and was hurt by the speculation.

Storms, who has played Maxie on General Hospital since 2005, had taken a step back from the long-running series as she focused on her health and personal life.
