A San Francisco Giants ball girl had fans gasping — and then laughing in relief — after taking a nasty tumble while chasing down a foul ball during Tuesday night’s game against the San Diego Padres.
The painful-looking moment happened during the eighth inning at Oracle Park as Bryce Eldridge ripped a foul ball down the first base line that bounced its way into right field.
The Giants ball girl, decked out in the team’s uniform and batting helmet, sprinted after the ball hoping to grab the souvenir for the crowd.
At first, everything looked smooth.
She managed to track down the ball — but seconds later disaster struck.
Just as she gathered it, the ball girl suddenly lost her footing and completely face-planted onto the dirt in foul territory in front of thousands of stunned fans.
The hard fall immediately caught the attention of the TV broadcast crew, with Giants announcers Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper reacting in real time as viewers held their breath.

Thankfully, the ball girl quickly popped back up and smiled off the embarrassing moment like a pro.
“Atta girl,” Krukow said on the broadcast after she got to her feet. “Sometimes your feet get heavy by the eighth inning.”
The awkward wipeout instantly became one of the most talked-about moments of the game — and honestly summed up the Giants’ rough night perfectly.
The Giants were crushed 10-5 by the Padres after ace pitcher Logan Webb gave up six earned runs in just four innings.
Things didn’t get much better the next day either, with San Francisco dropping the series finale 6-1.
The struggling Giants now sit tied for last place in the NL West with a disappointing 14-23 record, leaving frustrated fans wondering if anything can go right this season.
