A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Romania after the father of a professional soccer player collapsed and died just moments after watching his son compete in a match.

According to reports, Gheorghe Huiban suffered a fatal heart attack outside the stadium following a game involving his son, Romanian soccer player Dragos Huiban.

The devastating incident happened on May 2 outside the stadium of Oțelul Galați after Dragos Huiban’s team, Metaloglobus București, played to a 2-2 draw.

Family members said Gheorghe, 78, had traveled with relatives to watch his son play and was waiting in the parking lot for him to come out of the locker room after the game ended.

That’s when tragedy struck.

Witnesses said the retired school principal suddenly became ill and collapsed outside the stadium.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and reportedly spent nearly 45 minutes desperately trying to revive him.

Sadly, doctors were unable to save him.

Medical officials later confirmed Gheorghe suffered a heart attack.

The shocking moment reportedly left players, coaches, and family members devastated.

Metaloglobus manager Florin Bratu later described the emotional scene following the match.

“Huiban’s father was at the match with his family, and after the match, in the stadium car park, he waited for Dragos to come from the dressing room,” Bratu said.

“He suddenly felt unwell and collapsed.”

Bratu added that emergency responders acted quickly, but despite prolonged efforts, Gheorghe could not be revived.

“We are all with Dragos,” the coach said. “It is very shocking.”

The grieving soccer star reportedly stayed behind in Galati with his family following the tragedy instead of returning home with teammates.

Dragos Huiban, 36, is a veteran Romanian player who previously represented his country at the under-19 level and has played for several clubs throughout his career.

The heartbreaking loss has sparked an outpouring of support online as fans and fellow athletes send condolences to the Huiban family.
