Sharon Stone is mourning another heartbreaking loss in her family after revealing that her older brother, Michael “Mike” Stone, has died at 74 following a lengthy illness.

The actress shared the emotional news Wednesday in a post on Instagram.

“Mike Stone, my oldest brother, has passed away,” Sharon wrote. “Following an extended illness.”

She signed the message with the names of her three sons, adding, “We wish him peace.”

While Mike mostly stayed out of the Hollywood spotlight compared to his famous sister, he also spent time working as an actor.

He made his acting debut in the 1990 film End of the Night and later appeared alongside Sharon in the 1995 Western The Quick and the Dead.

Over the years, Mike occasionally appeared at red carpet events and public outings with his sister, who often spoke about how close their family was growing up in Pennsylvania.

Mike never married, though he was briefly engaged to British socialite Tamara Beckwith during the mid-1990s.

His death comes just two years after another devastating tragedy for the Stone family.

In 2023, Sharon’s younger brother Patrick Stone died suddenly at age 57 after suffering a heart attack.

At the time, Sharon shared an emotional video announcing Patrick’s death and thanking fans for their support during what she called a time of “immeasurable grief.”

Patrick’s death came after the heartbreaking loss of his infant son, River, who died from organ failure in 2021 at just 11 months old.

The Stone family has also recently lost both of Sharon’s parents.

Her father, Joseph Stone, died in 2009 after nearly 60 years of marriage to Sharon’s mother, Dorothy.

Dorothy Stone passed away last year at age 91.

When announcing her mother’s death, Sharon described her as “hilarious” and “complex” in an emotional social media tribute.

Sharon has often spoken publicly about the strong bond she shared with her siblings and family throughout her life, even writing about them in her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice.
