Country music star Clint Black has been hospitalized after suffering a serious tonsil infection, forcing him to cancel a concert scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend.

Fans had been preparing to see the 64-year-old country legend perform at Pearl River Resort in Choctaw, Mississippi, on Friday, July 3. However, Black’s team announced that the show had been called off because of a medical emergency.

“Clint Black’s performance at the Pearl River Resort Casino, scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, has been cancelled due to a medical emergency,” the statement read.

According to the announcement, Black was admitted to the hospital Sunday after developing infected tonsils that required emergency intravenous antibiotics.

The good news is that the “Killin’ Time” singer is reportedly responding well to treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

“Clint is on the mend and will make a full recovery and is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week,” the statement continued.

Black and his management team also apologized to fans for the unexpected cancellation.

Anyone who purchased tickets for the July 3 concert can receive a full refund through the original point of purchase.

The hospitalization comes as concerning news for longtime fans of the ’90s country icon, but the latest update suggests he could be home within days.

Fans have been sending prayers and well wishes as Black continues recovering.
