Orlando Bloom has reportedly thrown a Hollywood production into turmoil after abruptly walking away from a major movie role just as filming was preparing to begin.
The 49-year-old actor had been set to star opposite Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the survival thriller Reset, with Bloom’s involvement reportedly helping producers secure financing for the independent film.
Now, his sudden exit has left the project scrambling for answers — and potentially fighting for its survival.
According to TMZ, producers are urgently searching for another leading man in hopes of keeping the movie on schedule. There are even questions about whether Reset will be able to move forward at all if a replacement cannot be found quickly.
Bloom wasn’t just supposed to appear in the movie. He was also expected to produce Reset through his Amazing Owl production company, making his reported departure an even bigger blow.
Chopra Jonas, who is also producing the film, is expected to have significant input over who steps in to replace him.
So far, there has been no public explanation for why Bloom reportedly walked away.
Reset centers on a woman, played by Chopra Jonas, who wakes up alone in the wilderness with no memory of how she got there.
Stranded days away from civilization, she is forced to trust a mysterious and charming stranger — although it quickly becomes unclear whether he is really who he claims to be.
The movie is being directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Matt Smukler, whose previous work includes the 2022 comedy-drama Wildflower.
Bloom’s latest professional shake-up comes after an eventful year in his personal life.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star split from longtime fiancée Katy Perry in July 2025. The former couple shares daughter Daisy Dove, now 6.
Perry has since been romantically linked to former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, while Bloom has reportedly been seeing Swiss model Luisa Laemmel, 28.
Bloom also shares 15-year-old son Flynn with his ex-wife, model Miranda Kerr.
RadarOnline previously reported claims that Perry had been disappointed she and Bloom never expanded their family beyond Daisy and that her new relationship has left her feeling especially satisfied with how life has changed since their breakup.
Sources have also claimed Perry and Trudeau have discussed building a future together, although neither has publicly confirmed plans to have a child.
Bloom, meanwhile, has reportedly been quietly dating Laemmel for several months despite the pair living on opposite sides of the country.
One source told The Sun that Bloom is primarily based in Los Angeles while Laemmel lives in New York, but claimed there is still a strong connection between them.
For now, however, the biggest drama surrounding Bloom may be unfolding on a movie set.
With filming reportedly approaching and producers suddenly missing their male lead, Reset could now face a race against time to find someone willing — and available — to step into the role.
