Anika Rashaun, the beloved MTV reality star who appeared on “The Real World” and “The Challenge,” has died at just 34 years old following a battle with stage 4 breast cancer, only months after marrying the love of her life.

Rashaun died October 1, just three weeks before what would have been her 35th birthday. Her death was confirmed by longtime friends, who have shared emotional tributes remembering her adventurous spirit, fierce loyalty and determination to live life on her own terms.

The heartbreaking news comes less than eight months after Rashaun married Kyle Walker-Rehn in a romantic Valentine’s Day ceremony in San Marcos, California.

The couple exchanged vows on February 14, surrounded by loved ones, in a celebration Rashaun later described as a dream come true.

Sharing photos from the wedding on Instagram, she expressed her happiness over the special occasion.

“The day was literally a dream filled with the best moments,” she wrote, adding that she and Kyle couldn’t have imagined a more perfect celebration.

Sadly, the newlyweds had already been facing an extraordinarily difficult challenge.

Rashaun was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer during the summer of 2025, according to her close friend Tiara Ramos, who had known the television personality for more than two decades.

The diagnosis came as a shock, particularly because Rashaun was still in her early 30s.

Ramos explained that although Rashaun’s mother had previously battled breast cancer, her friend had not been identified as a high-risk patient or advised to prioritize mammograms.

Despite the devastating diagnosis, Rashaun remained determined to embrace life and pursue the things that mattered most to her.

She also began speaking publicly about her experience, hoping to raise awareness about breast cancer in younger women.

Together, Rashaun and Ramos launched a podcast called “Breast Friends Forever: BFFs Battling BC,” where they discussed cancer, treatment and the emotional challenges that come with a serious diagnosis.

In one conversation, Rashaun spoke about undergoing chemotherapy and encouraged women to pay attention to changes in their bodies rather than assuming they were too young to develop breast cancer.

Her message reflected a determination to help others even as she faced her own uncertain future.

Following her death, Ramos shared a deeply personal tribute describing the woman she had considered a sister for more than 20 years.

“I lost a piece of my soul when my best friend died,” she wrote.

Ramos remembered Rashaun as a fearless, persuasive and fiercely loyal friend who never apologized for being herself.

She also recalled her friend’s enthusiasm for adventure, from moving to Thailand on her own to going skydiving on a first date.

Those experiences reflected the same bold personality that first introduced Rashaun to television audiences.

Born and raised in New York, Rashaun became a recognizable face on MTV in 2016 when she joined the cast of “The Real World: Seattle: Bad Blood.”

The season featured roommates confronting people from their past, with Rashaun’s former boyfriend, Will Groomes, entering the house as part of the show’s unusual format.

Her outspoken personality and willingness to confront difficult situations made her a memorable cast member.

She later returned to MTV for the 2017 competition series “The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions,” where she competed against other reality television personalities before being eliminated early in the season.

Although her time on television was relatively brief, Rashaun continued pursuing opportunities in entertainment and entrepreneurship.

She became a professional matchmaker and dating coach, helping others navigate relationships while building her lifestyle and relationship brand, ASKANIKA.

She also pursued training to become a licensed marriage and family therapist, reflecting her interest in helping people build healthier personal connections.

Friends say that passion for relationships extended into her own life, where she was known for showing up for the people she loved.

Her former “Real World” castmate Theo King-Bradley also shared an emotional tribute, recalling their friendship and the memories they made filming television together.

He expressed sadness over not having another opportunity to see her, while remembering their final conversation and the honesty she brought to their friendship.

The tributes have painted a picture of a woman who embraced challenges, pursued her ambitions and maintained meaningful relationships throughout her life.

For Ramos, the loss was especially painful because their friendship had lasted through so many different stages of adulthood.

She described Rashaun as someone who loved deeply, supported her friends without hesitation and approached life with extraordinary enthusiasm.

The timing of her death has made the loss particularly emotional for those closest to her.

Rashaun died October 1, and friends continued honoring her as October 22 approached, the day she would have celebrated her 35th birthday.

Instead of birthday celebrations, her loved ones were left reflecting on the memories they shared and the life she built in just 34 years.

Her death also comes during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, adding significance to the advocacy she pursued after her diagnosis.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer can occur in younger women, although it is more commonly diagnosed later in life. Anyone noticing a persistent breast change should seek medical advice, while screening decisions should take personal and family risk factors into account.

Rashaun’s family history and diagnosis highlight the importance of discussing cancer risks with healthcare professionals, rather than assuming age alone provides protection.

She is survived by her husband, Kyle, whom she married during what friends described as one of the happiest moments of her life.

For fans, Rashaun will be remembered for her appearances on MTV. For those who knew her personally, her legacy is far greater.

She was a devoted friend, an ambitious entrepreneur and a woman who continued finding reasons to celebrate life even while confronting a devastating illness.

Her time was tragically short, but the love, laughter and memories she leaves behind will remain with those who knew her best.
