Legendary singer Tom Jones has sparked fresh concerns over his health after a sudden illness forced him to pull out of two major concerts, bringing his grueling U.S. tour to an unexpected halt just as he was approaching the finish line.

The 86-year-old Welsh superstar, whose powerful voice has entertained audiences for more than six decades, revealed that he had been struck by a severe case of the flu after completing an exhausting stretch of 20 performances across America.

The unexpected setback prompted doctors to advise the music icon to rest, forcing him to postpone highly anticipated shows in Los Angeles and San Diego and leaving fans worried about his well-being.

Jones broke the disappointing news on Instagram on Monday, October 26, just hours before he was scheduled to take the stage at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

“I’ve had a great time these last few weeks, completing 20 shows and singing for wonderful audiences across the USA, but unexpectedly I’ve been hit with a bad case of the flu,” the singer explained.

“Following doctor’s advice, I unfortunately have to reschedule tonight’s show in Los Angeles and tomorrow’s show in San Diego.”

The announcement marked another troubling interruption for the beloved entertainer, who has continued maintaining a demanding international performance schedule well into his eighties.

Although Jones has not suggested that his latest illness involves any serious complications, the sudden cancellations have renewed questions about the physical toll of touring at his age, particularly after a similar health setback last year.

In July 2025, the “It’s Not Unusual” singer was forced to postpone a concert in Bremen, Germany, after developing an upper respiratory infection that required treatment and rest.

At the time, Jones apologized to disappointed fans and postponed the performance by six days, eventually returning to the stage.

He also faced health-related disruptions in 2022, when viral laryngitis affected his performance schedule. Later that year, the music legend underwent a second hip replacement.

Despite those challenges, Jones has shown little interest in stepping away from the spotlight. His latest Come Gather Round tour began its North American run in September, with the singer continuing to perform the beloved classics that made him an international superstar.

But his latest illness has thrown an unexpected wrench into the final stretch of that ambitious schedule.

Before the postponements, Jones had been expected to conclude his American tour in San Francisco on November 1. Instead, the two affected concerts have been moved to early November, making Los Angeles the newly scheduled final stop.

His San Diego performance at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is now scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, while his Los Angeles concert at the Greek Theatre has been moved to Wednesday, November 4.

Additional performances remain listed for Highland, California, on October 29, Wheatland on October 31, and San Francisco on November 1, although Jones has not publicly detailed how his recovery might affect those appearances.

For now, the singer appears determined to return to the stage as soon as he is well enough.

“I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. I look forward to seeing you all soon,” he told fans.

Tickets purchased for the original Los Angeles and San Diego performances will remain valid for the new dates, while concertgoers unable to attend can request refunds through their original ticket providers.

The latest health scare serves as a reminder of the extraordinary demands Jones continues to place on himself at an age when many performers have long since retired from the road.

Still, there has been no announcement suggesting the legendary crooner intends to retire, permanently scale back his touring schedule, or cancel the remainder of his performances.

For the millions who have followed his remarkable career, the hope now is that a little rest will be enough to put the beloved entertainer back where he has spent most of his life: commanding the stage.
