A man on parole said he fatally shot a 17-year-old Friday in Little Village after he saw her throw water at an employee of a McDonald’s, according to Cook County prosecutors.

Anthony Heredia, 19, told investigators that employees of the McDonald’s at 4334 W. 26th St., called that day and asked him to come to the restaurant after the employees recognized the girl, Tierra Franklin, from an altercation at the restaurant the previous week, prosecutors said in court Sunday.

When Heredia arrived, the employees told him everything was fine, and he waited in the ’s parking lot while Franklin and her family got food inside, according to prosecutors.

When Franklin walked up to a drive-thru window and threw a cup of water inside, splashing an employee, Heredia pulled a gun and fired twice at her as she ran back to a car, prosecutors said.

Franklin was struck in the back about 3 p.m. and taken to St. Anthony Hospital by her family, where she was pronounced dead, the Chicago police said.

Employees at the McDonald’s declined to talk with a reporter Sunday. A request for comment with a spokesman for the McDonald’s Corp. was not returned.

Family members told ABC7 Franklin was headed into her senior year at Curie High School and dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

After the shooting, a surveillance camera recorded Heredia returning to the parking lot and picking up a shell casing, and investigators later matched another shell casing recovered at the scene with a shell casing found in Heredia’s pocket when he was arrested a short time later, prosecutors said.

Charged with first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, Heredia was ordered held without bail Sunday.

He’d been paroled in March after pleading guilty earlier this year to reckless discharge of a firearm, according to county and state records.

    1. It’s easier for criminals to get a gun then regular people but the Constitution guarantees every American the right to bear arms WHICH is the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND but he should be charged with murder because he was not protecting anyone when he shot her

    2. Because criminals don’t buy gun’s legally! That’s what all the liberals hollering gun control don’t understand!

    3. Soros-backed DAs who treat criminals like they’re victims.
Criminals who know how and where to get any kind of firearm they want.
People with zero respect for anyone’s life – even their own.
They talk all about r-e-s-p-e-c-t, but it’s really want you to fear them.
Because they’ll take you out – like right here – if you cross them.
People who think every answer to any situation must include violence..
Joe Rogan is proven correct – again.

    4. Chicago…are we surprised?…They didn’t think this through.. As in any side of this event.. Stupidity reigns supreme in cook County. Can’t save stupid. What about the other 100 people murdered in cook County last month? But hey they gave us Obama for America Chicago ill zip code 60606 .. Call Obama to save them. Oh..this is a product of his messianic pendejo-ship..

  1. So many questions.
If he was on parole for a firearm violation, how come he had a firearm? Should the courts request the police to take ALL his firearms away? Should he be included in a database to restrict him from buying any firearms?

Not all people have control of their rage and negative emotions OR have the maturity to be a responsible firearm owner. Should we as a society and a country interpret the 2nd Amendment as a necessity for people that are in a state regulated militia and not for civilians to be shooting at each others?
In reality, the 2nd Amendment is a relic from the days we had a very tiny permanent army and needed the state regulated militias to defend us from the Brits, Indians, Spanish and Pirates that were constantly threatening the Republic…..BUT now in the XXI century…who would dare mess with the USA?
Our biggest threat nowadays ARE the people with guns that are dumb and deranged and have been told lies by unscrupulous politicians.

    1. An armed society is a polite society. Tierra found that out the hard way.
The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with state regulated militias and is no more a relic than any of the other amendments. The 2nd Amendment applies to the Unorganized Militia. Who is the Unorganized Militia you ask ? Well, according to US Statute “all able bodied men over the age of 17” and their right “to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. And before anybody blurts out some inane statement about the “well regulated part of the 2nd, in the vernacular of the time (the Kings English) and in the context of the 2nd, “well regulated” was defined as “well equipped”.

      1. Throwing a glass of water does not deserves the death penalty
We are not very polite. Actually carrying a gun give most people a bravery and reckleness they normally do not posses. What you are talking about is FEAR. The fear that anybody with a gun can actually end your life with little or no provocation.

The 2nd Amendment, written when we had no army and surrounded by enemies specifically talks about a “well regulated” militia.
You can sit there and find many ways to turn the meaning around, but fecal matter is still manure .And Regulation is still regulation.

    2. For about 150 years, yes we HAD a reason not to Want a gun, barring those avid hunters and gun enthusiasts. These latter folks have always followed the law regarding purchases As of today though, the government has intruded so much into our civil liberties that owning a gun is looking more it did in the beginning of the USA. Government policy and restrictions and ungodly taxes, has become a need to own a gun. It’s as it was then, it is now, mentality to the common people.

  2. Sorry, Geronimo, it is the unscrupulous politicians that we need protection from. Those same folks who want to take the guns from responsible citizens are the ones who refuse to keep dangerous criminals incarcerated. They also are weakening our military to the point of ineffectiveness. Criminals don’t folllow laws prohibiting them from having guns.
Guns are used more to prevent crimes than to commit crimes. Our biased news media refuses to report that.
